This is the one everyone wants to know. An anonymous source said the PlayStation 4 will be available in $429 and $529 models, but we can’t be certain. Sony’s consoles have always tended to be on the pricey side each generation, and we want to know how much to set aside for this holiday season. Which brings us to…

When does it launch?

Sony’s PS4 reveal concluded with a teaser that the system will arrive during this holiday season. Typically, the holiday season ranges anywhere from late November through December. Obviously Sony wants to have the PlayStation 4 available before Christmas, but how early could we reasonably expect the console to debut? The company has stated it wants the PS4 to release before Microsoft’s next system, which hopefully means it will be sooner rather than later.

Details about the console itself

Enthusiastic gamers want to know the color and aesthetics of Sony’s next box, but there’s more to it than that. How many USB ports will it have? How big is the internal hard drive? Does it have touch-enabled buttons like the original PS3, or traditional buttons like the slim model?

What does the DualShock 4 touchpad do?

We know a few concrete things about the DualShock 4 concerning its design and motion-sensing capabilities. We also know it has a touchpad smack-dab in the front of the controller that is similar to the one on the back of the Vita. What applications could this have that’s not already satisfied by the controller’s physical buttons?

Will any current hardware work with the PS4?

Sony confirmed PlayStation Move controllers work with the PS4, but not DualShock 3s. Sony also isn’t saying whether the PS4 will ship with a camera. Will users be able to use existing PlayStation Eyes with the PS4? Will plastic instruments from the PS3 era be compatible with possible future music games?

How will existing PSN accounts be managed?

We already know that PSN and PS3 save data is not transferrable to the PS4. In addition, PSN aren’t currently playable on the PS4 but may be in the future. We’re also unsure whether or not your existing PSN ID will make the leap to the PS4. What is going to happen to all our trophies and friends? Sony says the PS4 is deeply integrated with social media. Will our accounts on Twitter or Facebook replace PS4-specific IDs?

How will the cross-play and remote-play functions be integrated?

Sony wants players to swap games between their PS4 and Vita for on-the-go gaming, as well as use their phones or tablets as a second game screen. We have some insight into how this works thanks to the PS3 and Vita’s cross-save/cross-play feature. Games like Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time allow players to upload save data to the cloud on one system in-game, and download it from another system later. With the new console, will this feature be activated in game or via the PS4 user interface? Sony promises all games will support this, but how certain can we be all developers will work to optimize their games for both a home console and a portable game?

What will replace the XMB User Interface?

We only got a glimpse of the PlayStation 4’s placeholder UI during yesterday’s presentation, and it looks more like the 360’s dashboard than the PS3’s XMB. We want to see how this UI threads together with the PS4’s focus on sharing and spectating with friends. Is the share functionality a one-button shortcut like the 360’s guide button?

How open is the PS4’s self-publishing model?

Shu Yoshida says developers can set their own price points, but we don’t know how much Sony is asking as the content gatekeepers. The size of the cut Sony asks for could determine how eager developers are to make games for the system.

Is it region locked?

Many gamers like being able to import games that don’t make it to their country. If the PlayStation 4 isn’t region locked, curious JRPG fans can play games like Ni no Kuni ahead of time without waiting for localization.

Will backwards compatibility via streaming happen?

The leap from the PS3’s Cell processor to the PS4’s x86 platform makes traditional backward compatibility impossible. However, Sony hopes to leverage Gaikai’s powerful network technology to let players stream Sony’s backlog to any device, including the PS4. We’re curious how complete this back catalog of games will actually be if it actually happens.

Will it support 3D games?

The PlayStation 4 supports 1080p display for games and movies, as well as 4k video, but Sony led the three-dimensional charge this generation with games like Killzone 3 and the Team Ico Collection. Will it continue to support 3D with the PlayStation 4?

Will PS3 and PS4 games interact online?

Blizzard announced that Diablo III is coming to both the PS3 and PS4. A handful of other cross-generational games will undoubtedly release for both Sony consoles. Will these different versions of the game be able to interact with one another online?

What’s up with PlayStation Home?

We don’t care, but someone might.

Where are all the new IPs?

Capcom’s supposed new IP, Deep Down, looks suspiciously like Dragon’s Dogma. Square Enix’s Agnis Philosophy tech demo is couched in the trappings of the Final Fantasy universe. Media Molecule and Quantic Dream only teased that they’re working on new projects for the PS4. That leaves us with one new IP to look forward to: Knack. While the cutesy adventure game takes full advantage of the PS4’s powerful ability to render millions of in-game objects simultaneously, we were hoping for more. Where are all the new game franchises that usually come in tow with a new console? This is confusing considering the huge amount of support from third-party developers.

Will the predictive online shopping stuff be optional?

Sony says that the PS4 will monitor what you and your friends play. This telemetric data will be used to suggest games for you to play, and may possibly even download games for you in the background. The automatic game downloads implied are alarming, and we want to know if we have the option to opt out of this feature.

Is online play still free, or will it be subscription-based?

Sony promises a lot of cool online features for the PS4, from remote play to uploading videos of any game to the Internet. The fact that the PS4 will come with a headset proves that Sony is taking online play more seriously this generation. But will these new features come with a subscription cost like Xbox Live? If not, what will the PS4 offer to retain current PlayStation Plus users?

Now that we’ve all had time to get used to the year being 2013, I would like to reflect. The past year was a strange one in the games industry, one that cut against the grain. There were highs and lows, and we all had great expectations after 2011.

The big games (Mass Effect 3, Assassin’s Creed III, etc.) came and went. They impacted us, but in a standard, uniform kind of impact. We knew what to expect from these types of games, and they delivered. But in the end, the biggest impact was made on us by the smallest games, especially Journey.

An indie game developed by a studio that prides itself in its artistic manners changed our perceptions of what games could be. The fine folks at thatgamecompany should join the A-listers of the industry after their Herculean effort to make an indie game matter to the world. They succeeded in making this game matter and have made our standards change. The small budget and small team size didn’t stop Journey from being showered in awards and becoming one of the highest selling PSN games of the year. Take a bow thatgamecompany, you’ve earned it for making the player think differently and react emotionally to your creation.

In 2012, there was a surprise that I certainly didn’t see coming. The rise of indie games occured in 2012. Journey, Fez, FTL, Hotline Miami, The Unfinished Swan, Dust: An Elysian Tale, Mark of the Ninja, and Spelunky are all indie games and are all fantastic in their own rights. Never has there been such an outstanding lineup of small budget games. Indie game developers, in my opinion, deserve to be recognized with the same respect and admiration as industry luminaries such as Ken Levine, Harvey Smith, Sam/Dan Houser, etc. Indie game developers have the toughest job in the industry in my opinion, and 2012 was their renaissence.

Indie games weren’t the only genre to prove its worth this year. Adventure games from here out owe their success to The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead isn’t the greatest adventure game ever, but it is one of the most important. Telltale proved that the adventure genre is alive, and has proved that there is a new age of adventure coming to the industry.

Some will argue that The Walking Dead isn’t a game. Those people have some points, but it’s interactive media which is good enough for me. In fact, The Walking Dead is my personal GOTY. What Telltale pulled off is an incredible feat deserving of all the awards it has received. Adventure games owe there life to The Walking Dead.

2012 was strange. The heavy hitters came and went, but they didn’t define the year. Instead that came from the quietest voices in the industry. The indie developers and Telltale defined 2012 in my opinion. 2012 was the year the game industry needed and it delivered. If you knew where to look, you were spoiled rotten with games last year. 2012 was different.

If you would like me to write a blog about something, comment about it on this post. Thanks for reading.

Alright poeple, we might have a little problem here, we all have got used to buying Video Game CDs and what not, or rent a game to play the campaign and give it back, or trade your video games for other games , or maybe sell them, well not any more. it has been confirmed that Sony will be moving the game content Digital, which means they will not be selling any CDs in stores like game stop or any other ones.

Microsoft is trying to follow the same footsteps as Sony, they also trying to take their content digital.

Microsoft and Sony are saying that moving content Digital will be allot better for the players since the games would not cost 60$ a pop any more,

P.S Game stop still trying to fight it, but its too small against the giant 2 Sony and Microsoft

Ok this is a question i wanted to ask many people about this, should we start bringing old classic video games back to life, remember the old games we used to play, like NBA Jam , jump full court while doing ten thousands 360s in the air and dunking the ball,

ok i think you might be saying oh no Tom, remamber when they brought back Duke Nukem, well i understand that part believe me, it was a good campaign game but not for the online world

i think if we bring back streets of rage ONLINE, it would be fun to play.

now imagine this; 4 players online ( almost like cod zombie mode ) fighting thier way to kill the final boss, or endless wave of gangsters to beat up.

Building off of the groundbreaking original, PlanetSide 2 is a free-to-play, massively multiplayer online first person shooter (MMOFPS) that delivers truly epic, massive combat on a scale never before seen in stunning, breathtaking detail. Harnessing the power of SOE’s next generationForgelight™ engine, in PlanetSide 2 battles persist when thousands of players align with one of three unique Empires in intense land, air and vehicle gameplay. In PlanetSide 2, the fight for territory is more than a victory, it’s survival.

Across the continents of Auraxis, thousands of players come together in enormous battles to win control of critical territories and key resources for their Empire. With an extensive skill tree and free-form class-based system, players are able to customize their soldier, weapons and vehicles to match their play-style, as well as the needs of their squad, outfit or Empire. Battles can last for days or weeks, so players need to build alliances and specialized combat outfits to take on long-term strategic and tactical initiatives. With aircraft and ground vehicles, as well as infantry combat, the battles are larger and more intense than ever before.

Okey people, here we have another game for you brought to by steam, PC game only , this game decided to go live for free on the steam platform on feb 2013,

lets talk about the game from our point of view, well its another game that involves crazy looking monsters and another ok story line. The Dragon nest graphics are not the greatest since the creators were focused on the story line of the game, so it can be ran on any graphic card people.

one thing i have to tell you i really enjoyed playing this game ( honestly ) at first i was like ok another kiddy kiddy game, but once the story line gets going you are going to have to finish the game ( trust me ). more details: Dragon nest is

Dragon Nest is an online action role-playing game that combines the blazingly fast combat and visually stunning attacks of a console game with the epic story and role-playing elements of classic MMORPGs. What makes Dragon Nest unique among action RPGs is the third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective. This provides both a unique combat “feel” reminiscent of first-person shooters and lets players enjoy the graceful and ferociously vicious combat moves of the characters.

Retrovirus is a six degrees of freedom shooter which sends players into the depths of a computer on a search and destroy mission against an invasive virus. Retrovirus is being created by Cadenza Interactive, the indie studio behind the popular tower defense game Sol Survivor.

Players take command of an antivirus program, armed with the tools necessary to erase the virus’ very existence from the system. Movement and exploration are core to the gameplay, and players are encouraged to adapt to the demands of a world where free flight is the norm. Of course, the virus is armed to fight back, and first person shooter combat features heavily as players test their level of comfort with movement within the machine environment. Each player is able to customize their antivirus program with different plugins, allowing for a variety of approaches to a given situation.
